Eva was in her first ballet performance after taking ballet during Fall 2009. She was one of "Saturn's Moons" and loved performing with her friends as well as the big girls! She did such a lovely job. Eva is hugging her friend, Ana, who has shared preschool, kindergarten and now ballet with her. Owyn is hugging his preschool friend, Bridget. Had to add some close ups of the bun, too...we worked hard to get this right!!
Trick or Treat was lots of fun this year! Eva was a "Daisy" and Owyn was a "Police Officer." The weather was beautiful as we walked up to Brookside for treats and then back to our street for...more treats! The kids took turns handing out candy to the visitors at our d
oor. Ken and I also had fun reminiscing about the day we met...exactly 15 years ago today!!
Eva turned 6 years old on September 13, 2009! We had a fun day as a family that ended with a party with friends at our house. She had 10 friends over, all dressed in their favorite dress up clothes, to make pizzas, paint flower pots, play on our swing set and for a round of "musical pillows." Everyone seemed to have had a splendid time - especially the birthday girl herself. Happy 6th Birthday to our Eva!!!
Owyn had a great start to Pre-K. He couldn't wait to get there and once he arrived, he barely needed to say good bye to mom! (Mom made him hug her anyway!) He picked out his shirt to look especially nice on his 1st day of school and I think he made a good choice. It was an easy transition this year since he is in class with all his old friends and a couple new ones, too. Have a great year, Owyn!
We recently had a lovely Saturday morning with friends Tanya, Ky, Caleb & Asher as we visted the Weston Red Barn Farm just 40 minutes north of KC. We picked apples, took a hay ride, visited with the animals and checked out lots of pumpkins! We ended the day with an apple-themed dinner. Good fall fun!
We've slown down quite a bit in the home improvement section of our lives, but here are a couple of items we've updated in our home...
We've lived for over 1 year with no closet in our bedroom, so we were thrilled when we found this IKEA unit on craigslist for a steal! The DR light fixture replaces an old, ugly ceiling fan. It is a trade from a friend who I am going to do some painting for. Notice the beautiful curtains in the DR (also in the LR) that my mom made on my parent's August visit to KC. Thanks, Mom!
We're so proud of Eva as she starts her first day of kindergarten at Academie Lafayette, a French immersion school in KC. She woke up excited and ready to go this morning. Nous t'aimons, Eva!
Eva & Owyn's Sunday School teacher sent us these pictures he took of them in class. We got a kick out of them! Notice Owyn's shirt buttoned to the top. We couldn't get him to wear it any other way!
